A new Loki behind-the-scenes video from Industrial Light & Magic reveals the creation of Alligator Loki and the End of Time from episode 5. Created by Rick and Morty alum Michael Waldron, the series served as the third Marvel Cinematic Universe outing on Disney+ after WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter SoldierLoki saw the alternate version of the titular god of mischief who escaped amidst the events of Avenger: Endgame, though is swiftly arrested by the Time Variance Authority and recruited to help solve a series of murders committed against TVA agents.

Tom Hiddleston returned to lead the cast of Loki alongside Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Wunmi Mosaku, Eugene Cordero, Tara Strong, Sasha Lane, Jack Veal, DeObia Oparei, Richard E. Grant and Jonathan Majors. Having premiered on Disney+ in June 2021, the series became a smash hit for the streaming platform, becoming the most-watched series premiere in its opening week and seeing its finale surpass both those of WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Loki episode 5, entitled “Journey to Mystery,” proved to be one of the most innovative for the streaming series in its introduction of multiple variants of the god of mischief. While Grant’s Classic Loki and Jack Veal’s Kid Loki received a fair amount of praise for their costume designs and personalities, namely the latter having killed his version of Thor, much attention was drawn to the adorable introduction of Alligator Loki. Though the episode discussed the possibility he was simply an alligator dressed as a god of mischief, audiences truly connected to the character, with some creating catchy theme songs for Alligator Loki while others established their own comics and videos creating backstories for the reptilian variant.

Alligator Loki wasn’t the only big draw from Loki episode 5, with the expansion of the End of Time Void and climactic battle between multiple variants and the cloud-like entity known as Alioth evoking emotions as Classic Loki sacrificed himself to save Hiddleston’s antihero and Di Martino’s Sylvie. It would also leave audiences hooked going into the season finale, which introduced Jonathan Majors’ He Who Remains to the MCU to build towards the arrival of Kang the Conqueror in the near future. Audiences can catch up with Loki season 1 on Disney+ now.
