Disney+’s The Book of Boba Fett looks set to be another exciting, character-driven Star Wars story bolstered by its promising cast. Although very little information about the spin-off to The Mandalorian was revealed ahead of release, a few members of the cast were known and the first few episodes revealed a host of new characters alongside returning stars Temuera Morrison and Ming-Na Wen. With Disney’s Star Wars series all building toward some climactic crossover event, Boba Fett’s story has never been more exciting.
The Book of Boba Fett takes place after the second season of The Mandalorian and alongside the events of Ahsoka, the series following the titular former Jedi. In the series, bounty hunters Boba Fett and Fennec Shand attempt to secure their control over the desert planet Tatooine. With the former criminal leader Jabba the Hutt dead, Fett and Shand are able to usurp the sitting steward of the underworld, as seen in the last episode of The Mandalorian. How the two mercenaries will fare as the heads of an enormous, otherworldly crime syndicate will be determined in Boba Fett.
Part of what made Disney’s previous Star Wars series, The Mandalorian, successful was its stellar cast. It appears Boba Fett’s cast of stars will be a worthy follow-up, with two principal actors returning to their roles. Balancing sci-fi action with criminal intrigue is key to Boba Fett’s success, a feat these experienced performers are more than qualified for. Here’s a guide to the cast and characters of The Book of Boba Fett.
Temuera Morrison As Boba Fett
Temuera Morrison stars as Boba Fett. Cloned son of the notorious mercenary Jango Fett, Boba is also a bounty hunter, although he wishes to achieve fame of his own. Morrison is supremely qualified to play Boba; he has been the principal actor for Boba in many movies and series, including The Mandalorian; additionally, he featured as Jango and his clones in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones. Morrison has a knack for playing iconic characters’ fathers, including both Aquaman’s and Moana’s. After Boba Fett, Morrison will reprise his role of Thomas Curry in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
Ming-Na Wen As Fennec Shand
Also returning to her role from The Mandalorian, Ming-Na Wen fits perfectly as Fennec Shand. Fellow mercenary and partner to Boba Fett, Fennec aims to assist Boba in taking over the crime world in Tatooine. The actress has a long history of playing enigmatic warriors; Ming-Na Wen voiced the animated heroine Mulan, and starred as the super-agent Melinda May in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Some of Wen’s other roles have been in Disney+’s The Bad Batch, animated series The Batman, and medical drama ER. Wen will next feature in the HBO Max animated series Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai.
