Fortnite Apologizes For December Outage With Power Leveling Weekend

Epic Games has announced a Power Leveling Weekend as an apology for Fortnite’s previous server outages, allowing players to earn increased XP.

As an apology for Fortnite‘s servers going offline three different times in December, Epic Games has announced it’s compensating players with a weekend of increased XP and a free Harvesting Tool pickaxe for those who participated in Winterfest. Last week, Fortnite‘s servers went down for almost 8 hours and those trying to boot up the Battle Royale title were met with login, matchmaking, and other issues that rendered the Epic Games Store inaccessible. While the situation was confirmed to be under investigation and the servers were brought back up, Epic Games received backlash from players, with many calling for Fortnite cosmetics to be gifted once the game went back online.

The title’s newest Chapter recently set sail with new additions, mechanics, and a brand-new flipped map that utilizes many of its newest features. Players can now land into the free-to-play multiplayer title with a collection of new content including characters, cosmetics, and new game mechanics such as sliding and swinging, which allow players to easily traverse the map and offers them a more fluid experience than other battle royale games. Additionally, Epic Games is looking into expanding Chapter 3 with even more features, as a recent leak has revealed that Fortnite is receiving a weather system update next week.

In a new announcement, it appears that Epic Games is compensating players for the time lost to last month’s issues. The official Fortnite Twitter account has revealed that it is bringing back Power Leveling this weekend. Kicking off January 7 and ending on January 10th, experience will be supercharged and will allow participates to easily earn increased XP to advance through Season 1’s battle pass. In addition to the event, those who logged into Fortnite during its recent Winterfest event will receive a brand new pickaxe called the Crescent Shroom before it enters the Item Shop later in the season.

Fortnite‘s servers went offline on three separate occasions, with the first instance on the 17th lasting for five hours, during which players would be stuck on the title screen or kicked off of the Epic Games Store. All of the downtimes took part during the aforementioned Winterfest event, which is considered to be one of Fortnite‘s best annual events. Players who participate are rewarded with winter-themed items such as gliders, back blings, harvest tools, and exclusive skins.

Fortnite‘s newest chapter is off to a fantastic start and players could highly benefit from the Power Leveling Weekend before the next 19.10 update possibly releases next week. Interested players can jump into the title during the weekend and max out their battle passes, as Season 1 is set to end in March.
