Rick & Morty Season 5 Marathon Planned To Celebrate Streaming Release

Rick and Morty is finally set to hit streaming platforms, and Adult Swim plans to mark the long-awaited release with a marathon of season 5.

Season 5 of Rick and Morty is finally set to hit streaming platforms, and Adult Swim plans to mark the long-awaited release with a marathon of their hugely popular series. Rick and Morty season 5, which aired on Adult Swim last year, was a hit with viewers, but many of them will have missed out on the wild return of the Smith family without access to the channel, having to wait for the show’s arrival on the various streaming platforms. But thankfully, the wait is finally over, and Adult Swim is ready to give the series a triumphant send-off.

Having arrived on Adult Swim back in 2013, Rick and Morty has been a big sensation for the channel and developed into a full-fledged cultural phenomenon over its now 5-season run. Spawning video and tabletop games, comic books, and most recently, a spinoff series called The Vindicators announced in 2021, the chaotic sci-fi comedy has drawn an enormous fanbase worldwide, with many discovering the show via online streaming. And while Adult Swim has held onto the series through its rise to become one of the most talked-about shows on television, many viewers still await Rick and Morty‘s streaming release to watch each season in full.

Rick and Morty season 5 is set for streaming release next month, confirmed to be coming to Hulu and HBO Max on February 5. As reported by ComicBook, to celebrate the show’s airing, Adult Swim has planned a marathon of the complete fifth season for February 6, from 11:00 PM EST to 4:00 AM EST. The network has been known to air similar marathons for its shows on special occasions, often running a whole series or complete seasons to coincide with a new release of one of their top shows, and a full late-night marathon is sure to please fans.

Rick, Summer and Morty in Rick and Morty Season 5

Season 5 of Rick and Morty was a continuation of the beloved series’ success, but the season’s episodic nature divided much of the fanbase. Turning away from the serialized style of storytelling established in previous seasons, the first seven episodes of season 5 were more standalone, featuring grand set pieces and wilder plots than audiences had come to expect. While the final three episodes returned to the status quo, filling out the canon of the Rick and Morty universe, the stylistic variation disappointed part of the fanbase, having become accustomed to the series’ slow growth into a plot-driven series. Still, the hardcore will always welcome any new Rick and Morty content.

Having already been renewed for season 6, and with The Vindicators spinoff on the horizon, Rick and Morty fans won’t have long to wait for brand-new content. Both series have been scheduled to come to Adult Swim this year, although dates are so far unconfirmed. And with a series of experimental shorts from creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland also teasing the possibility of further expansions to the Rick and Mortyverse in the future, the potential for an even greater franchise surrounding the show only grows with each season. With at least 70 more episodes commissioned by Adult Swim, Rick and Morty still have a few adventures ahead of them.
