Lala Kent claimed her VPR co-stars didn’t tell her about the rumors Randall Emmett cheated. But Scheana Shay says if they had, Lala wouldn’t listen.
Scheana Shay is pushing back on Lala Kent’s claim that her Vanderpump Rules co-stars should’ve told her about Randall Emmett’s infidelity. Lala left her fiancé of three years in October after he was photographed with other women. In season 9 reunion promos, Lala tearfully confronted the cast for not warning her. She previously expressed the same sentiment on her podcast.
Since calling off their engagement, Lala has not held back about Rand. The Bravo personality has slammed him as a liar, thrown shade at their love life, and claimed to have proof of his infidelity. However, in the season 9 episodes that were filmed months prior, the Utah native presented a very different narrative. She even tore down Scheana’s fiancé Brock Davies in comparison. Lala later admitted to projecting her and Randall’s issues onto her co-stars’ relationships. The actress has stood by her claims that she was totally blindsided, and wouldn’t have stayed with Rand if she knew he was unfaithful. But according to Scheana, who feuded with Lala about Brock, that’s revisionist history.
Ahead of the season 9 reunion, Scheana spoke to Us Weekly about the on and off-screen drama. Scheana confirmed that rumors about Rand had been in the air for a while. Apparently, both Lala’s ex James Kennedy and fired VPR star Kristen Doute heard stories years prior. However, the 36-year-old explained, “at that time, if anyone who had heard anything would’ve brought that to Lala, she would’ve shut it down. She says, ‘Now I wish people came to me.’” Scheana tried to add a silver lining, as she continued, “But at the same time, if people did come to her then and she didn’t shut it down and she did leave him, she wouldn’t have Ocean,” referring to Lala and Randall’s 10-month-old daughter. The Schenanagins host also made sure to note that the cast has heard their share of phony cheating rumors in the past. For instance, she shared that Ariana Madix, who fell out with Lala, once received a message claiming boyfriend Tom Sandoval cheated on her the previous night. But in reality, the couple spent the entire evening together at home. Because of easily debunked accusations like this, she explained, it is easier to dismiss any other infidelity claims as “bull****.”
Scheana’s assumption about how Lala would’ve reacted is consistent with the 31-year-old’s past behavior. In one episode this season, a slightly suggestive comment about the movie producer sent Lala on a defensive rant. At the start of their relationship, the Give Them Lala author fought anyone who referred to Randall as a married man despite the fact that he was, at the time, still legally wed to actress Ambyr Childers. Some individuals, including Lisa Vanderpump, have also questioned just how shocked Lala really could’ve been at the 50-year-old being a playboy considering his past.
In the same interview, Scheana also dismissed the possibility of Lala dating James again. “I mean anyone who knows Lala knows her type and it’s not Randall and it’s not James. Let’s just say that,” she shadily remarked. Like his ex, James’ supposed happy engagement fell apart after production wrapped. But while Lala broke up with Randall off-camera, the DJ’s former fiance Raquel Leviss apparently calls it quits while filming the reunion.
