9 The Matrix Resurrections

The most recent film on this list is The Matrix Resurrections. In the fourth installment of The Matrix franchise, Chopra makes an appearance as Sati, an exile program creator without purpose who met Neo after the Machine War. In The Matrix Revolutions, Sati makes an appearance with her father as a mere child, but now she is grown and lives without any guidance. While a small role, she shines in this dystopian sci-fi action film alongside Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss as they navigate the Matrix once more, seeing how far the rabbit hole truly goes.

8 Dil Dhadakne Do


Following the dysfunctional Mehra family, Dil Dhadakne Do, which translates to Let the Heart Beat, is a realistic depiction of family. When the parents invite their family to join them on a cruise to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary, a truthful depiction of family relationships is shown. The remarkable ensemble cast alongside Priyanka Chopra features Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah, Ranveer Singh, and Anushka Sharma. Her portrayal as Ayesha Mehra earned her a nomination for Best Actress at the Screen Awards, which was only one of the many nominations the film received. 7 Mary Kom

A biopic about the life of boxer Mary Kom, an Indian boxer who went on to win the Amateur World Championship six times. Mary Kom follows Kom’s journey from becoming an amateur boxer to her hard-earned victory at the 2008 World Boxing Championship before the athlete made it to the Olympic Stadium, with Chopra playing the lead role. Chopra underwent rigorous physical training for four months before production and studied Kom’s style of boxing to recreate Kom’s boxing to the best of her ability. While Chopra was praised for her outstanding performance, she has since admitted that the role should have gone to someone from the Northeast.

6 Agneepath

Translating to “Path of Fire,” Agneepath follows Vijay who seeks revenge when his wife and father are brutally murdered at the hands of Kaancha. Chopra plays the role of Vijay’s first love and eventual wife, who provides support for him unconditionally until her death. The film follows Vijay’s life as he grows up, establishing the strong relationships that were broken by Kaancha’s wrath. The version starring Chopra as Kaali is, in fact, a modern remake of the 1990 original. Agneepath is praised as a perfect revenge film with the right amount of emotion and violence to go with it. Chopra was praised for her outstanding role as a strong woman lead despite the film having a male-dominant cast.

5 Don

A departure from her typical role in a drama, Chopra hits the screen in the action thriller Don alongside Bollywood tycoon Shah Sukh Khan. A reboot of the 1978 original, Don follows the title character whose look-alike Vijay has been sent on a mission to impersonate him after he is wounded and must infiltrate the drug mafia. Chopra plays Rama, Ramesh’s sister who plans to avenge her brother’s death by targeting his killer, Don, but not everything goes according to plan. Chopra shows off her action skills in this hit film. Don saw great box office success and was one of the highest-grossing films of 2006 in India.

4 Krrish


A unique addition to this list is Krrish, a film about a superhero. It’s the second film in the Krrish franchise and follows the son of the lead of the previous film, Krishna, or “Krrish” who inherits his father’s powers. Chopra stars as Priya, the love interest of Krrish whom he follows to Singapore where he earns his status as a superhero after saving children from a burning circus and adopting the persona of “Krrish” in order to keep his identity private. The film was a hit, especially with the children of India, gaining Chopra even more attention as Krrish’s release was the same year as Don.

3 Bajirao Mastani

The very married hero Peshwa Bajirao falls in love with Mastani, a warrior princess. Chopra takes the role of Bajirao’s first wife, Kashibai, the compassionate mother of Bajirao’s children holds no ill will towards Mastani, even saving her from a possible attempt on her life. Such a lovable character who, despite being married to Bajirao and wanting his love, only wishes for the lovers’ happiness. This role won Chopra a Filmfare award for Best Supporting Actress among many other accolades that Bajirao Mastani received. This tragic love story took eleven years to produce but was entirely worth the effort.

2 The White Tiger

Nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay at the Academy Awards, The White Tiger follows Balram, a humble driver to a wealthy Indian family who seeks to improve his life and escape the clutches of the Indian lower class. He is referred to as a “white tiger” because of his advanced academic abilities, someone born once in a century. Chopra makes her appearance as Pinky Stork, the wife of Ashok. As the family suffers many dramas, it seems Balram has many opportunities to rise in the ranks.

1 Aitraaz


Topping the list is the Hindi film Aitraaz. Priyanka Chopra’s most praised role is as Sonia, the ex-lover of Raj in Aitraaz. Raj finds himself in a jam when Sonia accuses him of sexual assault to blackmail him and destroy everything he’s built for himself. The film was praised not only for Chopra’s performance but for the content being one of the first of its kind in India to cover the topic of sexual harassment. This role won Chopra many accolades for her performance in this thriller, including a Filmfare Award for Best Performance in a Negative Role. Her maniacal, conniving portrayal as the relentless ex-lover out for blood is phenomenal and by far her best role to date.
