Hulu reveals alongside a new teaser that the trailer for Marvel’s Moon Knight will release on Monday evening during the NFL Super Wild Card matchup. Created by Jeremy Slater, the series based upon the Marvel Comics character will star Oscar Isaac as the titular hero, alongside Ethan Hawke and May Calamaway. The latest series of Phase 4 of the MCU, the show will consist of 6 episodes.
Almost a year after launching their first Disney+ series with WandaVision, Marvel Studios are preparing for another year full of releases, starting with Moon Knight. Moon Knight follows Marc Spector (Isaac), a former U.S. Marine with dissociative identity disorder (DID) that is drawn into otherworldly supernatural conflicts when he becomes the conduit for the Egyptian god Khonshu. With his differing identities through his DID being distinct characters, Spector becomes the vigilante Moon Knight. Promising to be distinct from the previous series released, Moon Knight seemingly wrapped filming in October as suggested by on-set leaks from Budapest, and now fans have been given a date for the first full trailer.
Posted by Hulu on their Twitter account, the streaming service revealed that Moon Knight‘s first official trailer will debut on January 17. The tweet revealed that the full trailer will debut during Monday night’s NFL Super Wild Card matchup on ESPN and the ABC network, likely followed by a release across Marvel’s social media accounts. The release date was also revealed alongside a brief teaser focused on Isaac’s Marc Spector, offering a glimpse at the hero suiting up, as well as Ethan Hawke’s as-of-yet unknown villain character. Check out Hulu’s tweet below.
Fans were given a small teaser of the series during Marvel Studios’ Disney+ showcase, which also revealed footage for Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, and Secret Invasion. The Moon Knight trailer showed off Isaac’s costume following previous leaks, as well as teased a more violent, brutal hero as Moon Knight was seen pummeling an unknown foe in a destroyed room. Despite not being aware of the hero before taking on the role, Isaac has been supportive of the work and confident in the project, praising directors Mohamed Diab, Justin Benson, and Aaron Moorhead for their ambitious work. Isaac also revealed that despite not wanting to get too ahead of himself, producer and Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige had given the series his seal of approval.
As one of Marvel Comics’ more complex heroes, many eyes are on Moon Knight to be one of Disney+’s most daring Marvel series. As such, fans are looking to the upcoming trailer to deliver a solid first impression that hooks more casual, unknowing fans on the mystery and intrigue of Moon Knight. With Isaac praising the series as “The best risk of his career,” expectations are high for what may be Marvel Studios’ first series of 2022.
