AFV is still going strong with Alfonso Ribeiro as the current host and it all began with late comedy legend Bob Saget.
More tributes for Bob Saget are coming in after the comedian’s shocking death on Sunday. At just 65 years old, Saget died unexpectedly in Orlando after performing at a comedy show the night before. Hosted by current host Alfonso Ribeiro, AFV is now further honoring the original host of America’s Funniest Home Videos with a touching tribute video compiling some of his greatest moments from the series. For so many years, Saget had been a fixture in living rooms across the nation with the program, and this is partly why so many are in mourning.
“By now, pretty much the world has heard of Bob Saget’s passing Sunday morning,” the AFV team writes in the video description. “Bob was the backbone of a TV show that has gone onto entertain not only America, but the world. Bob made us smile, he made us laugh out loud and, often times, he would make us giggle. A comedy legend. A kind soul. Our dear friend. We will miss you, Bob.”
“For more than 30 years he was a champion of the scleroderma community, helping to raise awareness about this complex disease and millions of dollars to fund research for a cure,” the tribute adds of Saget. “Bob was unparalleled in his generosity and dedication to the mission of the SRF and will be remembered for his deep compassion, uncommon kindness and huge heart. Your gift in memory of Bob will directly support the SRF’s research program so that one day we will have a cure for scleroderma.”
Anyone who wants to make a donation to the mission in memory of Saget, whose sister Gay died in 1993 after a three-year battle with the disease, can do so at the official website for the Scleroderma Research Foundation.
Bob Saget Was Honored By His ABC Family
The cast of Full House was hit pretty hard with the news of Saget’s death, each of them posting tributes to express how heartbroken they felt. Saget was described as the glue that held them all together and things will never be the same with him gone. The cast joined Saget’s other family and friends to lay the comedian to rest and John Stamos posted on Twitter how hard it was for him.
“Today will be the hardest day of my life. God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference,” Stamos said.
On Jimmy Kimmel Live, Saget was further honored with Kimmel speaking about how his late friend was the “sweetest man.” This echoed the sentiments everyone else who knew Bob has been saying about him ever since. As someone who was just as kind and generous as he was hilarious, Saget’s passing is a tremendous loss. Rest in peace to a comedy legend.
